Default Shift Linkage Adjuster Clamp-can't remove

Hello,

I am pulling my daughters 4 liter, 6 cylinder engine out of her 97 Grand Cherokee and ran into a snag. The left transmission to block bolt is not accessable due to the 4 speed shift linkage bracket. I tried to remove it, but do not understand how to release the adjuster clamp so I can disconnet the linkage and get to my bolt.
Any feedback is really appreciated as I was down to 4 bolts and am now at a standstill.

The plastic adjuster clamp, has 2 tabs you can squeeze in with a pair of pliers. It can be tight but that's it than you can pull it out. I had mine out about 3 months ago to replace the cable. I'll see if I can fin the pics..
