"Service 4WD" Notification

"Service 4WD" Notification
We occasionally will get an alert tone and "Service 4WD" will pop up on the dash briefly then it will go away. Can't find anywhere in the manual what needs to be serviced. Anyone know what maintenance it refers too? Thanks
