Default security alarm problem

so i picked up this 94 jeep grand cherokee limited and ever since i got it i have had problems with the security. when i unlock the driver side door with the key (i dont have a keyless entry thingy) the security goes off. this can be very annoying. i took out the horn fuse a while back to make the problem a little less annoying. the weirdest part is that the only way to stop the security thing is to unlock the tailgate with the key. dunno if this has ever happened to someone but i could use some help

alright, i had a similar problem with my 95 limited. i got ahold of a dealership repair manual and the only way to shut off the security system is to unlock/lock the driver door, front passenger door, or liftgate. unfortunatly that is the only way to turn off the system. if you pull the fuse for it, you wont be able to use the power locks. usually the system only kicks on if the computer looses power or the wiring is being tampered with. when is the systems kicking on?

funny you ask because it has been inconsistent lately. i installed some subs and that made the security thing only happen like 1 in 10 times. before it was EVERY time. but now all of a sudden it has been happening like 8 in 10 times. i know there has been some electric problems because my security screen thingy gets reset often now. i just dont really know because i have a new battery and things are very inconsistent

look in drivers door behind the door panel. find the PURPLE wire with the YELLOW tracer. cut the wire. on the side of the wire that runs back toward the truck crimp on a ring terminal and use a screw to ground it to the door. tape off the other end that runs to the lock cyl. your remote locks will work but it will perma disable your security system.

Ok.......So........I got a 91 cherokee limited thats doin the same thing....lights flashing, no start condition, blah blah. I found the factory chrysler security box under the dash so it did come factory equiped. Will the key thing with the door locks work and also the cutting of the wire and grounding it in the door panel work ? help me please.....

Not quite related to this post cause yours is a Cherokee and this thread is about Grand Cherokees.

YES..........Thats why I said it was doing the same thing. It was ment to ask if the Cherokee was the same as a Grand Cherokee in relation to the quick fix of this problem Didn't mean to get off the correct make/model thread but I found this topic doing a search instead of starting a new - redundant thread. Sorry about the misplaced post.

Default 91 grand cherokee

i disconnected my battery to replace my starter. i hooked the battery back up and opened the door. the security light was flashing and making a dinging noise. i started my jeep and it ran for like 2 seconds and then shut off. it keeps doing this.
