Default roaring noises

I have a 98 grand Cherokee and I bought it used back in December. Every since I've owned it It's made a loud roaring noise coming from the back. We put "dope" back there cause it was out but It's still loud. Are all jeeps loud like that or is my rear end broke or something?

There should not be a roar!! Suppose it's best to methodically check things over, starting with the simple things, ie: tyre pressures, something touching axle/driveshaft. Or indeed lions!

Mine did the same thing. It's probably time for a new rear end.

Its either axle bearings, pinion bearing, or carrier bearings. If you have a v8 then your rear end is a D44a. They are notorious for getting noisy and eating bearings because they have an aluminum housing that will warp over time causing bearings to sit and wear funny, eventually causing premature failure.

Well the weird thing is, is It's only loud while I got the gas mashed. If I let off the peddle, still going the same speed it don't sound. Only while I'm pressing the gas.

Then I'm betting your pinion bearing is bad.

Pull your cover off and I bet you will see Where your pinion is rubbing your differential housing.
