Default Replacing rear wheel bearings need help

Going to venture into a new one, I have a noise from the back that is worse when turning to the right. From this forum sounds like it is the left side wheel bearing. Is there a good proceedure from someone here that I can follow and also has anyone built their own wheel bearing puller? I know I should be able to borrow one from Advance Auto which is the slide hammer type but I am trying to design my own that I can keep without spending a lot. Thanks for the help.

You mean the inner axle bearing?

Lots of places will rent you the tool.

OK Diesel you got me I thought everyone was saying the outer bearing was probably the noise, but then there is the inner axle bearing in the diff. housing, right? and I probably will go with just renting what I need making it will cost a lot more than renting.

There is just one axle bearing, it is on the end (outer) part of the axle tube. I have a home made slide hammer/puller but it would be hard to figure out how to make one without having one in front of you. I recommend renting the tool, maybe look into building one after seeing the adapters and stuff, and then giving the tool back for your money back.

If turning right and the noise gets louder, its probably the left one, same goes the other way for the right. Check the axles shafts real good for galling of the bearing surfaces too.

Thanks jnicewan that is what I was told a while back on here. Your right about the tool will rent one to see how hard its going to be to make it. Have a great day....
