Put some power on that wrench
There is a lot of myth and legends going around regardless differential.
My front was winning when was picking up the speed. At 55 I could not stand that high pitch noise. The shop wanted $800 to fix it so I decided to do it my self. Just change differential and pinion bearings. The material cost me $140 and 2 days of work. If you have the crush sleeve then you do not have top worry about the shims as long as you change the bearing only.
For over a week I was going nut to try to find out of what I did wrong. I could not take the slack out of yoke. I took to local drive line shop and they charge me $30 to tight it up. I did nothing wrong with assembly, but I got older (58) and had no "juice" to tight with torque wrench.
Before you "rip out" the differential, do couple of push-up`s to make sure that you have a "juice" to tight that big nut.
My front is quiet not, it is time to start working on rear, but before I do, I need to get in shape. Have a fun.

I do not have that luxury of impact wrench. I have been doing some push-ups for last couple of days and I hope that 3 feet extension for torque wrench will do the trick.
