pulling front axles
My cv boots are shot to all hell. I'm heading to the junk yard in the next couple days to go find a set. It's a 95 zj 4.0 auto. What all is required to do this. I'm pretty good with vehicles but I have never done the front axles on a jeep.

to be honest and to save you alot of time and trouble go buy them brand new. You can pick them up brand new at your local parts store for under $50 each and they come with a life time warrenty as well you cant beat that for the price. most junk yards will want $25 and up for used ones and you never know how long they are going to last anyway.

if you want cv joint shafts, do what they said and get them at an auto parts store
if you want u joint shafts. they cost a fortune in stores so a JY is your best bet
to pull the axles you need a 3/8" hex for the brakes, whatever the axle nut size is i forget, and 14mm 12pt socket for the hub

You mean CV joints cost a fortune to buy in stores u joints are cheap you need a 36 mm socket for the big nut in the middle of the rotor a 12 point 13mm socket for the hub bolts then the axles slide out

Cv shafts are 50 bucks a piece in stores, u joint shafts are like 150. Obvioisly the cheapest route if he wanted u joint shafts is get jy shafts and replace the u joints

So went to the jy and got a set of solid u joint style axles out of a 95 jgc. Both are 27 spline. Hopefully get them installed in a couple days.
