Ok, I'm new here and posted an intro. but I'm having a unique problem here. Yesterday when trying to put gas into my Cherokee the pump kept clicking off after a quarter gallon or so and would repeat this pattern over and over. I tried a different pump but same problem.

Inside the fill tube there is a spring loaded "trap", well I noticed after this problem the brass cover over the spring loaded trap is missing now. This must have something to do with my problem but I'm kind of clueless where to go from here.

Anyone have any ideas??

Just to clarify if you look inside your filling tube there is a solid trap, well mine now looks like a washer, its not solid.

 

pick yoursself up a new or used tank from the wrecker or auto parts store
