I have a 1993 Grand with the 4.0 auto. My problem is when I give it gas to pass someone it seems like the engine looses power and starts to pop out of throttle body and floods out . It never dies but I cant get it to resume speed after that. I have even tried to resart it but nothing seems to help. I leave it set for a couple of hours and everything is fine until I try to pass again.

 

Replace the cat.

I dont think it is the cat as the jeep runs fine 80mph with no problem until I push the gas pedal to the floor to pass then it just acts up starts poping and looses power

 

check fuel pressure. Drive it in 2nd and floor it, see if it does the same thing.
