I have a 94 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 w/4.0 automatic w overdrive, got the codes out of the TCM codes are 21-22-and 23, when I turn key on I can get the od light to come on, but when I start the engine nothing, I have to mannually shift thru the gears, but still no od, HELP!!!!!

 

Your '94 4.0L should have either the 42RE or 44RE trans. and it sounds like it's a problem with the Transmission Control Module IMO. It's located under the dash to the left of the steering column.

Thanks Dan,Yes I know where the tcm is, was hoping maybe someone out there had the same thing at one time. Started out as intermittent problem, put it in drive and it would start out in 4th gear, had to manually shift, but no od, then after it warmed up I could shut it off and restart it and it would be fine, now nothing even after it,s warm. 21 code is govorner pressure solenoid circuit/22 code is 3-4 solenoid circuit/23 is torque converter clutch circuit, any additional help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

 

Sorry, I don't know much about the workings of those trannies. Hopefully someone will chime in with some advice/help.
