I have a 2007 Laredo (6 cylinder, quadra-trac I) with 31k miles on it. I bought it two months ago with 30k miles. Since its certified, I think I still have a warranty left on it, but I've taken this thing back to the dealer four times and am just tired of doing that. Pretty much all the kinks have been worked out except this one. If its an easy fix, I'll just do it myself...only problem is I have no idea what this noise is...

I have noticed a noise coming from underneath the driver's side of the car (under the passenger compartment) when I first start driving. Actually, sometimes it sounds like its more towards the front under the dash. It happens between 10-15MPH, then nothing else until the next time I start the car and start driving. It doesn't matter if the car is cold or warm. It sounds like a solenoid is snapping open or shut, but struggling to do so...it only lasts a second or less. Any idea as to what this could be? Doesn't matter if the a/c or heat is on or off, or what the engine's doing. Thanks.

 

It may be just the ABS going through its self check.

 

It does sound like ABS, although its quick. This started a couple of weeks ago...hasn't always happened. I can't imagine this is normal. Has this happened to anyone else?

 

I ended up taking the car in before the three month warranty was up. They said it was the ABS module, and although it makes some noise when turning on around 10MPH, this one is louder than usual. I figured I might as well pay the $150 bucks for the deductible while its under warranty and get a new one. If I didn't it would probably quit on me. So, now I drive around with a new module that still makes a noise, but its quieter.
