Default Np231HD, Pull a part score?

Ok so I was at pull a part yesterday and my friend and I were looking for transfer cases and well on our previous trip we spotted one in the back of a dodge, this time we decided to buy it, did not notice at the time but when we got back to the house and I looked at the tag and it says np231HD so I take a peek online and see that its aftermarket. It has a 32 spline output shaft and my current driveshaft does not fit at all, would a shaft from a cherokee work?

im pretty certain that xj's have the same 27 spline output shaft as your old 249.

best bet would be to go pull the d-shaft out of the dodge you got the t-case from. dependeing on if your u-joints are the same, you could slap the slip on your d-shaft. you can make it work with a conversion u-joint if your u-joints arent the same, but i wouldnt suggest doing this. they are hit or miss. i have had them work fine, and cause vibration that will make your teeth fall out!!

does the t-case have the same input spline count as your 249?

The input spline count is 23 just like the 249, but the output spline is a 32 on the 231
