Default Not shifting gears in low range

Hi
We had some nice rain here in South Africa and went playing in the mud yesterday, when I noticed my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L does not shift gears in low range.
In high range the shifting is perfect, but then I go to low range and she stays in 1st gear, even up to 5000 RPM
Any advice will help.

Thanks

It's probilly shifting into high gear really fast because it's in low range, you just don't realize it is in high gear.

Some feedback.
Replaced the transmission output shaft sensor and the problem is fixed.
And wow what a difference in smooth gear changing, should have done this a long time ago.
