Default Noise from down under

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 with quadratrac,it has 158499 miles on it, In the last 3000 miles I have had two things happen, 6 months ago while driving on smooth blacktop it made a noise like I was driving on a rippled groove on the side of the road , I slowed down and the noise went away, then the other day it made a noise like metal breaking up in a metal can,so and I stoped and when I started driving again that went away also. it sounds like it might be in the transfer case or the quad system , transmission is ok.

Help
Ed

From what you describe it sounds like the viscous coupler has fragged. You can fix the transfercase you have or swap in a 231 or 242 and never have to worry about the viscous coupler again, plus you'll have 2wd
