new stereo installation question
hello everyone
i recently had a new stereo system installed in my jeep. i guess the amp had gone bad which is one reason the old one stopped working.
anyways based on reviews i had bought new 18gauge speaker wire as reviews on the speakers some had said they sounded bad until they replaced the wire and then the speakers was awesome.
anyways the mechanic had no desire to install this wire.
here's my question.
he had to bypass the amp and assuming i don't buy a new one
is there no reason to wire up to the amp? can't i just go straight from the speakers to the radio itself?
i also plan on replacing the back speakers which was not replaced prior to this, judging from the condition of the front speakers i will bet they are bad as well.
now assuming i purchase a new amp, i don't need to install it at the same place do i? or say i do since its out of the place under a seat i don't need to mess with any of the wires that was there already do i? i can just leave the old ones there or remove them all together.
thanks for any help
ryan

i looked it over but it don't really answer my question.
a new stereo was already installed. the installer bypassed the amp because with it connected the speakers got no sound.
but the real question was do i even need to worry about wiring anything up to the amp or where he bypassed the amp if i put in new wire.
shouldn't i be able to go directly from the speakers to the radio?
or if i get a new amp directly from the speakers to the new amp and then to the stereo.
i belive i am right in this but since i've never installed a stereo before i wanted to make sure.
the stereo in there is goign to stay, its a rather nice one, 7 inch lcd screen, blue tooth, etc.
i had replaced the front speakers but the mechanic didn't change out the speaker wire that came with the vehicle with the new wire i had bought.

I always replace the speaker wire in vehicles. The sound difference is very apparent.
Yes, you can go straight to the stereo. If the stereo has enough watts, it will sounds perfectly fine to most people.
