Default New rear springs / confused :-/

97 ZJ 4.0
So I have new front and rear springs , the original rears have a smaller top coil that sits on the isolator, the new rear looks identical in every way but does not have the smaller top coil So its actually sitting on a lip in the arch way .
the car sits right and handles right .
Were there different designs through the years ??? The parts place of course says it's ok . Tbh they look good and seem to be right weight and height .
