im new here just picked up my first jeep. gonna be my winter vehicle since i cant drive my camaro in snow and ill use it to tow my jetski in summer.

I got a good deal on it partially because the owner had no idea what was wrong with it.

Well its making a loud knocking noise. Only if im going up a steep hill or if im heavy on the gas at acceleration. i drove it home on the highway and no noise what so ever. if you accelerate slowly it wont make the noise ether. only when you goose it.

im pretty sure its coming from the transfer case but idk if its the transfer case the u joints or the drive shaft. any direction would be greatly appreciated. im thinking the front drive shaft is binding

oh and ive also driven it it very tight circles and 8s and it doesnt make the noise ether. it does it in 4 all the time and 4lo also.

heres a video of the noise.

Yeah I did. Still knocking but A LOT better. not as aggressive and not as much, but I suspect its shot. Its probably been running with the little amount of fluid for awhile now. No worries tho. I bought another transfer case.

This is literally ALL the fluid that drained out,

Luckily I paid almost nothing for the Jeep ($700) and besides the transfer case theres nothing wrong. Interior is great shape and body is to, no major dents or any rust so Im happy with it.
