I just picked up a 94 zj with 135K from a friend. it was his lillte brothers truck. I had him bring it to a mechanic for a quick check before the purchase. i never looked at it besides seeing it in the driveway a few times. Well the mechanic said it looked fine with no major problems. On the drive home, it was scary. Suspension was SHOT. The truck had a +/- 3" lift with shocks and springs. the springs are just about rusted through and the rear righ shock broke of at the lower mount. Calipers are about to turn into dust, and the rear end does not sound healthy. i changed the oil and saw the old filter was dated upon install... 5/06 WOW. ATF will go next weekend.

So now for my questions.:
1) Does anyone know where i can pick up a new/rebuilt rear end relatively cheap?
2) The car will be used 90% for commuting. It was $1000. I dont want to dump money into it, but i want it to drive safetly. The motor n tranny feel real strong. What are some good springs with a 2-3" lift to install?

well then you have plenty of companies to choose from for 3" zj springs,i've used several different brands over the years...right now i'm running iron rock on my wj and love them they have 3.5" coils for yours for around $100 a pair i think,if thats too expensive i think rough country may have a kit with 4 3" coils and shocks for a little less
