Default New Cherokee

We just sold our 1998 Cherokee, and replaced it with a 1997 Grand Cherokee Limited.. Very nice motor for the price ($2, 700).

It's a V8, which is the first one I've ever owned, and I'd like to make it burble a little more like V8 should do.

Anyone got any two cents worth on a good muffler? I don't want to change the whole exhaust system, just the muffler.

Cheers,

Nick

If its an all stock exhaust still, just disconnect the tail pipe from the muffler outlet. Mine actually rusted (318 5.2L), and sounds beefy and great. Better than fitting a muffler if your on a budget. Its also not loud at all. Only when your rev above 2500. I can get you a video if you want.

Better yet, just cut the muffler out and replace with a piece of exhaust tubing and keep the tail pipe. I agree sounds good. Nice growl to it.

This is what mine sounded like when I did that. BTW, yours is exactly like mine but a year newer! Love the Dark Rosewood Pearlcoat color!

I had it this way for about 6 months then wanted more so I redid the whole exhaust system. It currently sounds like this:

I have since added a 5.9 grille and hood to it and a handful of other stuff!
