Need advice on wheel bearings..
So, I have my less than a week old ZJ and I knew there was a problem with the right rear when I bought it.. I did negotiate the price based on a few items I pointed out, this was one.
Initially I thought it was the pads dragging on the rotor, but now I think its wheel bearings, its a dry grinding sound. (I replaced both rotors and pads, the ebreak shoes look fine and no signs of hot spots or drags).
AFAIK, the only thing left to make this sound, is bearings...
So, I think Im going to do that this weekend, looking at this youtube video, are there any other considerations I might need to know about?
I do plan on using a proper bearing puller.
I have both Advance Auto and Auto Zone locally, so if you have a personal choice on a good set of bearings and seals, please post a linky or part number.
My shopping list thus far is:
2X wheel bearings (Might as well do both)
2X axle seals
1X diff gasket
1X diff fluid
1X bearing grease
Ive never dont bearings before, so bare with me...
What diff fluid do I need to get?
What grease do I get to pack the bearings?
Can this be used for bearing grease?? (Reviews are positive, seeking clearification)

Would this be applicable for my rear diff?

Would the 1 quart be enough to refill the diff?
I think I might get this: (Have a HF local too...)
http://www.harborfreight.com/rear-ax...set-66380.html
But it requires a slide hammer...
Would this be a better kit???
http://www.harborfreight.com/blind-h...ler-95987.html
Its a little pricy, but would be worth gold for future jobs.
Looks like it would do the job, but I am seeking advice on this tool for my application please.
Ive done a lot of work on several of my vehicles in the past (LockRight install, head gaskets, pull transmission, tear down transfer case, etc.. etc...), but this is my first bearing job.
Any further input, PLEASE SHOUT OUT!
Thanks so much friends!

If you have the 4.0 engine the rear axle will be the 35c. You don't really need to pack the axle bearings, they're lubricated by the gear oil. Be sure to inspect the axle shaft carefully for signs of wear at the portion the bearing rides. Any grooves or pitting means you will need a new shaft. 85-90wt gear lube is what you'll want to use. Get a tube of RTV to seal up the cover. Once you have it all back together and full of oil do some figure eights in order to get oil to the bearings.
