need advice on some mods
hey everyone one well i have a grand cherokee laredo, not sure what year but finally me and my dad got it and im thinking about lifting it up and putting on 33s or 34s on it,
now my question is can i just do a body lift and put bigger tires on instead of doing a whole suspension lift ? And whats more easier to do a body lift or suspension, also how much would i have to lift it to put 34s on it or so. all help would be appreciate it as im just getting into this hobby , also the jeep will be a daily driver. hopefully next year the jeep wil be mine :) as for now my dad has to share it with me. |
Good luck finding a body lift. They don't make them. Our body and frame are tied into one. Thats why they call it a unibody. As for how much lift to run 34s, I am at 3.5-4 of lift and fit my 34'' LTBs under it. Took some minor cutting and hammering the pinch seam back.

here is a perfect jeep that i found i would want mine to look like that
http://www.ovoonline.com/sitebuilder...es/wj_rrdr.jpg i like the lift and tire size on that. looks good and heres the info about it just scroll down a lil bit and its there http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...26tbs%3Disch:1 |
i can tell yea i wouldnt use 2 inch spacers... thats what i have on my jeep.. i mean theres nothing wrong with them however if i would have done it, i wouldve done it right n just got a leef upgrade and a 2-3 inch spring with lift shocks.and the tire size isnt bad however imo it would look better with 275 or 265 say mtz's but thats just me... if i stand wrong please correct me but alot of guys on here rin 265 to 31 inch tires, due to larger tread surface and better flex..

31s, maybe 32s with some large trimming on a 2" bb

lol then 35s :) nah jk but hey so if i lift it 4in then i just need control arms or do i have to mess around with the axle ? and reason i dont want it to high is cuz its a daily driver, is it possible to lift it like 2in or 2.5 for now and later add something to make it higher.

i really like that one can anyone tell me if its good and do i need to get new springs with it also? |
well im actually looking at a 2in lift and 31in tires seems like a nice combo
so got a question when i get the 2in lift how long are my coil springs suppose to be cuz all i found was 2.5in here are the links lift http://www.xtremeterrain.com/2wjbudg...onexpress.aspx coil springs http://www.xtremeterrain.com/coils-wj25rear.aspx http://www.xtremeterrain.com/coils-wj25front.aspx would that stuff work ? or maybe this lift kit as its 120 bucks cheaper and alot of people seem to use the rough country kit http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-li...n-lift-kit.htm that way i can buy some nice tires |
If you want a lift on the cheap then search the forum for sale section here, nagca.com, jeepforum.com, and any of the others. I lifted mine almost 4" for $300.
Here is my set up. Kevins Offroad 2.5" BB + a set of Up Country springs. They are 1" taller than your standard springs. I left the stock 1/4" coil spring isolater in place. After lifting it I checked out my measurements from center of wheel to bottom lip of fender and it is right around 4" of total lift. I didn't have to do anything other than install the parts and put my wheels back on! I did get a new IRO Double Shear Conversion Front Trac Bar, but mine was shot and needed replacing anyways. With this set up you can run a 32x10.50 tire with out cutting. Another cheap way to lift your ZJ is called a front to rear lift. You take your front coils and put them in the rear and get new 3.5" front springs. IRO makes a good foundation kit to start at. |
2002 grand cherokee laredo
i have a wj and after seaching for a while and reading i think i rather not go cheap and do it right the first time so what i have in mind is ima buy everything separate instead of buying a kit. So far i finally settled on these shocks after hours of researching.
rancho rs9000xl http://www.quadratec.com/products/16019_9923.htm but im not gonna buy it off them ima try and see if i can find it for cheaper. now is back to searching and see whether i want spacers or springs. but spacers are a lot cheaper so maybe ill go with them as after those shocks ima be probably low on money. anyway tell me what you think of the shocks and please recommend me some good websites as its really hard to find parts for the wj. But im pretty sure it should be a nice 2in lift with those shocks :) thanks |
