Engine: 4.0 I6

Loud whine when accelerate

new member with 1994 grand cherokee 4.0 I6 engine. there is a loud whining noise from the belt/pulley area but i am unsure which pulley is whining, is there a way to narrow the search? TIA, danWI

You could pull the belt off and roll the pulleys by hand checking for roughness/play/unusual feel.

Before that though, I would check the belt tension....they tend to make noise when they get a bit loose. You would swear its too tight when you have it tightened good.....
