Hi,i locked my 2007 grand cherokee with remote key then lost it.i called a locksmith he said no problem came to my house and made a new key,the jeep will start but shuts down after 2 sec.i know it is because of the security.he said he didint have tools to help me.i dont really care about the security,is there away to disarm the security and use the key he made?what are all my options,can a locksmith with the right tools help me?or do i to have it towed to a dealership?

 

Does the new key have a chip in it if so has that chip been programmed?

 

Have it towed to the dealer. They will have to program the key to the vehicle.

 

It does not have a chip in it.Etexas xj you are a typical fool that automatically say tow it to the dealer,there has got to be away to fix this problem without the *** raping dealership.Etexas you take your jeep to dealer to have window washer fluid put in,IDIOT!!!

 

You could try to unlock and lock on the passenger door. It unarmed my stuff on my ZJ

 

August of 2010, paid $83 to the dealer for key/programming. Called a local locksmith and he could do it for $75. It wouldn't have the Jeep logo on the key. That makes 2 missing keys since 2004.

Dropped 1 off at a local garage after hours and claimed they never got it???
Was reimbursed for about 90% of the lost key.

The other day another one just mysteriously walked away.

At least both fobs are accounted for
