If you are just looking to get it on the trail you could just budget boost it and weld in some big bump stops so your tires don't eat up your fenders - your flex will suck but you should be able to wheel it.

NOTE: The WJ Transmission Vent is behind the Torque Converter and is just a hole, if you are going to hit deep water I suggest plugging that hole and tapping the top adding a fitting to add a vent tube/rubber hose or you will burn up your transmission the first time you are stuck in deep water. i have a 99 wj with 3 inches and absolutely no money in the lift. i put my front springs in the back and took a set of used 92 ford f150 front coil springs. and cut part of the spring on the very top and very bottom where the spring coils up tight to bolt on to the fords suspension. (explain alot better with a picture).cut it just enough to fit, and took the rubber spring retainer off the front axle and used the top spring retainer as the bottom one. left the one i took off the front axle in the trash and called it a day. now the spring swap from front to back will give you 2.5 inches but the f150 springs will give you 3.5 inches. with the front from the factory sitting 1 inch lower. this makes the jeep level. i have 31x10.50s on my jeep and they cleared without any lift. might i suggest cutting a small ammount of plastic off of the front and rear bumpers.
i dont have a pic of it lifted yet.....ile try to find one.

my buddie owns a tire shop i just might have to go test out the 33s on there. hehe bring my angle grinder too

i wish this was easier. im off to research for articles on lifts from like magazines.

i understand the rough country is cheap or budget, the iron rock is similar price, and zone offroad is similar price(im referring to 4" lfit). so are they all budget with low durability?

then the next upgrade is like $1200 (rusty 4.5" lift, bds 4" lift, etc)

so are u suggesting rusty's because its a complete kit? there is nothing else i need? i dont know much about it, my dad knows a little more, i showed him all the kits he liked the rusty's kit because it was the most complete kit including quick disconnects. however he thought i might need some more small things.

like he noticed in the rough country description it says "rear shock relocation kit [Keeps shocks clear from tires]" none of the others say that, do they just have a different setup, or do they notice the tires hitting the shocks and others dont?

can i do a 4" lift and the budget boost(spacers, no shocks) or would i need extras?

I run Rustys 41/2" w/33" ,had to trim all wheel wells to fit. The complete kit is the way to go. Very happy with its performance.

Just an update. Tires have all kinds of clearance now with th 2"BB on these 33x12.50s. BUT, we cut a lot on the fender and even refabbed the inner fender/unibody for that to happen. LOL.

I have been doing TONS of research till i'm blue in the face. someone told me about putting my front coils on the back and getting f150 coils for the front but wasn't sure they were going to fit. I am a college kid just trying to get 265/70/16s on my stock WJ. i am wanting about an overall 3" lift. If you will please give me more info on this that would be fantastic. thanks man i really appreciate the info!!!!

I bet!! I am glad you got it where you wanted it man. I just finished a 5.5 long arm on my ZJ with a 1.5" isolator up front for 6.2ish inches and STILL had to trim the bumper for turning clearance.

Got any pics now? I am debating chopping the fenders on mine now..
