I recently installed a Spartan locker in my dana 30 on my 95 Grand Cherokee and love it. But I want to install a locker in the rear also.
A friend suggested I just weld the spider gears like he did on this XJ( He daily drives it 60 miles everyday on 33s and says hes never had a problem other than sretching tires on tight turns)
I don't daily drive mine it only sees roads maybe 2 times a week and trails pretty much every weekend. I'm running 33s on stock axles.
My question is what is your openion on the best way to lock the rear axle or to just leave it alone. Also before you say it I can't afford a selectable locker.
I'm thinking about installing a dana 35 Spartan locker unless theres a better approach to it.
Thanks

if its a dana 35 I wouldnt weld it or put a locker in it period, waste no money on a d35, they are junk, even with a d44a its sketchy welding it, maybe just swap in a stronger axle like a 8.8 and put in a lunchbox locker

wow 60 miles on a welded rear end?....you could always just spool it if its not seeing any road use....look around though they have some lunchbox lockers pretty cheap
yea I don't think I'm going to anything to the rear. I'm just going to leave it open diff.
