Default Just bought my first GC...died after an hour

Now I've done a little research and found people with similar problems on these forums....

The Jeep just died while driving
Would thereafter crank but not start
No fuel pump sound
No relays clicking
My gauges would not sweep
*Now I didn't know to look for this being the newbie owner that I am but I'm pretty sure I seen that key with the line through it*

After not figuring it out by the time our ride came to pick us up I tried to roll the windows up and they wouldn't.

Came back this morning and it started up fine.

I'm familiar with such solutions as the Throttle Position Sensor, Replacing the PCM, and getting a new key. But does anyone have a suggestion on where to start? Which one I should try first?

When I bought it I only got the *grey* copy of the key...don't know if that means anything. No keyfob either.

I updated my garage but just in case it's a 99 Grand Cherokee Laredo with the 4.7 and an automatic.

Thanks!

Also it did not throw the CEL....kinda thinking I should take it to the stealership and run a diagnostic before throwing parts at it????

start with fuses, check electrical connectors, check relays, try to disable alarm

Sounds like you have a charging system issue. Have a shop check it out instead of throwing parts at it.

Yeah I swapped relays...only found one bad fuse and it was for the horn.

Okay I just replaced the cam and crank sensors...I did die after running it for about an hour it did die. I lost the accelerator and the gauges went to zero and the key with the line through it was lit up...however this time when I stopped and tried to start it again it actually started and I drove straight home with no issues.

I poked and prodded while it was running and when I either poked or prodded this it black thing it will kill the engine..and then it wouldn't start until I poked (or prodded) it again! Soooooo wtf is it? This is right behind the coolant reservoir against the firewall underneath the wiring.

Awesome! Tomorrow I'll take the reservoir off and clean them out...hopefully that's all it is. Only wasted money on 3 sensors so....

That is in fact the PCM (powertrain control module), You may have found the problem.
