Default JTEC vs NGC timing gears

I haven't been able to get a straight answer to this question, so hopefully someone hear has crossed this bridge before. I have just swapped the heads on my 2001 WJ Laredo after experiencing the old 'valve seat' drop. The timing chain set I ordered arrived with a cam gear {right side with the tone ring) that did not match the holes on my original. I have a JTEC engine since i can clearly see a TCM near the firewall so ...... I used my old tone ring on the pass side cam and put everything together.
My problem is, my engine runs but it is out of time according to the diagnostics at my local shop. Actually blowing the ignition/fuel pump fuses due to the coils firing at the same time. I would swear on my manhood that my chains are installed correct. I used all the other gears from gear/chain set, so I'm wondering if the teeth on the idler gear or the crank gear is different between the two sets. Does anyone know for sure?????? Thanks!!!
