Arrow intermitent whistling noise?

I have a 96, ZJ, 4.0,4x4, and sometimes, more often than not, it has a whistling noise that resonates through the entire vehicle. It may change pitches like a flute, and seems to happen between 10 mph and 60 mph, usually when you go faster than 60 you don't hear it, but sometimes you can... I put it in the air and tried in 2wd, and 4wd but could not duplicate the sound. Any ideas of what I could check? I thought it may be the ring and pinion, but doesn't seem to jive with it being intermitent.

Do you have a cold air, or open type intake system?? Or does it seem more like external wind noise??

No, nothing non factory on the intake system. The only thing non factory is the over sized tires. I will investigate some of the weather strips. It's so loud at times that it is hard to even pin point an area of the vehicle that it is coming from. sometimes the radio can't even drown the noise out.

yeah, my bet would be on a door not sealing properly. Do any of them leak when it rains?

Default Same issue?

I think we're talking about the same problem. I am having a squeal come from my front axle, but only above 15 to 20 mph. The problem started happening 3 or 4 months ago, then quit for a month, and then came back a few weeks ago. I too, only notice it up to about 60 or so, but that could be all the road noise. The squeal is kind of flute-ish, but more whiny. Is your sound similar?
