I just used a 7/8" wrench, and tapped on the other end with a hammer a little bit to knock the rust loose... and it worked great on five different ZJ or XJ's that I pulled O2 sensors out of @ the JY to have to make sure I don't have any issues due to my jacked up exhaust (CEL now for down stream O2).... Just an idea.... cause the wrench being long enough brought it down to the level where I could get at it with a hammer to knock the "rust seal" loose...

Did you end up using the wrench/hammer combo??? Glad to hear that you are able to clear your codes... can't wait to swap mine out to get rid of my annoying idiot light!!
