Hey guys! Im looking at a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee it has as follows: 155k
Automatic
2wd & 4wd
power windows
power locks
v6 engine
sunroof
keyless entry
cruise control
a/c and heat
cd player
tinted windows
new tires

I own xj's and im new to the Grand Cherokee and was woundering what Should I look for in repair wise on this Jeep Grand Cherokee? There asking 2,200 obo . Please let me know thanks guys for all of your help.

Check ALL the fluids for their level, color, and condition.
Look underneath at the engine, trans, transfer case, front and rear axles for signs of leakage and damage from running over obstacles.
Listen to the engine running. Does it make any unusual noises? Remove the oil filler cap while it's idling and see if any smoke comes out of the valve cover. If it does, it "could" indicate excessive blow-by indicating worn internal components.
Take it for a drive and see that the steering and brakes work properly, and the suspension and drivetrain doesn't make any strange noises, and performs properly.
Check to make sure that all the electrical features work properly.

That's a very good price if it's in decent shape.

Ok I will write that down and when I go look at it tomorrow to be sure to check all of that info. Is 2,200 a good deal for it? should I offer less? Thanks for all of your help.

If it is the 4.0L inline 6cyl and at 155K miles it's just about due for transmission troubles. It will have the 42re trans which is known to average about that mileage when in need of a rebuild. Keep an eye/ear for any slippage.

You should look at the exhaust manifold as well. look close to the collector for cracks/leaks. It is common for the pipe from the 1st cylinder to crack. I can see the crack on my 98 when looking up from underneath mine is 3" long and it only has 120k on it.

I bought it and I brought it home this morning! The first owner of the Jeep was owned by a woman who bought it new in 98 and the lady I bought it from was the second owner! Its in great condition. Runs and Looks awsome. It been babied all of its life so I think i found a awsome deal. I will Post Pictures very soon!

Yes Im very happy with the Purchase! It has been sitting for 2 years so Im just going through it and making sure things run good. After I drove it home yesterday it started to run like ****. I pulled the code and it was misfiring on cylinder 3, i went and bought good tune up kit and it runs a whole lot better. The cap, rotor, plugs were all burnt to **** and the wires were hella old lol. One of the worse ive seen in a long time. I cant get the Check Engine light to go off. I wounder if I have to clear the code from the computer. ? When i pulled the code there was only 1 on there so not sure how to get that gone! Any help would be awsome. It runs and drives like a champ. I will post pictures of it soon after I get is washed and vaccumed out Thanks, guys

Just put a new Tune up, new Battery, new oil change, and she is running like a champ. Will flush all of the fluids in the next month or so right before winter. My sun roof motor or switch is gone so need to replace that but other wise we are all ready to go! It was a nice Buy Thanks guys for all of your help.
