I have a 1994 Grand Cherokee limited.I did the transfer case swap,np249 sun gear swap to the np242.I am sure I did the swap right.I changed all seals and also did the universal joints.When I installed the 242,put it in gear I have no forward gears or reverse gears.Like being in neatural.I get a air noise from some where when I shift the tranny.Please any one have some answers for a newbie?I love my Jeep and want to keep it.The wife is pretty pissed at me right now!! HELP!!!!

Sun Gear? No such critter in a transfer case.

What input shaft did you use?

Thank You for the reply.Sorry about the sun gear.I said I am a new bie.I used the one form the NP249.
I see you are from Colorado,I lived in Sterling colorado for 33 yrs.Just moved to Illinois.Any way I can use all the advice you can give me.

I followed to the letter.That is why Im sure I did it right.When I put my shiffter into reverse or drive it is like being in neutureal.I just do not understand it.

 

I know on the chevy 4l60e the sun gear weld spots would break and there would be no reverse/1st on them.
