Default how to kill my immobiliser

Hi Guys, had my 98/99 mk1 GC orvis to the vets (dealer) as the alarm did not work - cars been stood 4 years. They charged me roughly $100 in your money to tell me it was broken, that the item was no longer made and that a company near by could repair it for circa $500. The immobiliser works fine as does the remote locking. I have just ordered a high security alarm/immobiliser which I want to fit, BUT to save me needing two plippers I'd like to shut down the factory imobiliser. The alarm has remote locking so that bit is also OK. I see on a lot of sights that grounding a certain wire shuts down the alarm, but does it also kill the immobiliser?
