Hood lever stuck

Hood lever stuck
Please Help!!!!
I am in an outback Australian town.
My battery of my Jeep Cherokee has completely gone and I left it for a couple of weeks while I went away (thinking leaving a dead battery in was good so it wasn't stolen which happens a lot here).
When I came back I tried to pull the lever to open the hood (the one inside the car) and it is stuck (wasn't before I left). I can't get the hood open at all or more the car to anywhere else to get it fixed.
Any ways to get the hood open with the hood pull? So I can change the battery!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
