high rpms

high rpms
Hey wondering if I could get some advice about my Jeep I recently bought a 04 Cherokee and the engine has had a loud humming when driving well I let a friend drive and he pointed out my Rpms were way too high (4000 rpms at 70 MPH) what could cause this?
