Default Help with serpentine belt, pulleys and tensioner

Hey,

I want to buy a new Serpentine belt. I was thinking to go with Gates.

1. Is Gates good?
2. Should I get the belt tensioner changed as well, and go with Gates too here? From Rockauto...
3. What about the idler pulley?
4. What about the tensioner pulley, should I get that changed too?

Thanks.

I see there is an Idler pulley More Information for HAYDEN 5018

and a tensioner pulley More Information for GATES 38009

Which one should I change?

If I changed both pulleys and the tensioner itself along with the serpentine belt, would the labor cost go much higher you think?

Ok last call guys, do I change just the serp belt, or the belt and all the pulleys and tensioner? If I were to take a picture of how it looks under my hood would it help you tell me? Thanks for the info!!

??? woooaaahh that s alot of stuff... in my opinion if the belt has normal ware like cracks or is just warn just replace the belt, if there is noise coming out of the pulleys or they have alot of play (radial or axial) then id conciser them on a need to replace basics. taking a picture or drawling the belt routing will deff make the install much easier if your new at it a belt tentionor isnt a bad idea but alot of times isnt really needed unless its weak or you find that the belt is burnt because it was slipping btw gates are good

labor??? you don't need no stinking labor! Do this yourself!

If the belt is cracked, replace it. While I have a belt off I replace the idler and tensioner pulleys. Some guys do, some wait till it squeaks or siezes up and cooks the belt or chunks it on the highway...

Gates is a very good brand.

You're overthinking this. Gates is a well known brand and sold everywhere, use Gates for the whole job.

take off the belt, remove a pulley, match it up with a new one, replace - repeat one at
a time. Install belt.

if you were to fill in your profile, there may be someone close by that could help.
