Default Help I think my brakes are broke

Hi Guys, just had a master cylinder change at the local garage (who have now gone away to Spain for ten days) I seem to have a long pedal travel even after bleeding the brakes myself. On hunting around under the hood I found a light alloy type hollow pin around two inches long - maybe one and a half. Should this be between the servo and the master cylinder? Has anyone got a servo master cylinder diagram they can email me? If you have you can send it to paul.james79@hotmail.co.uk it would be much appreciated. As I'm waiting for my Haynes to arrive from the states I can't find a picture anywhere, so until then having not stripped it myself I don't know.
