I have a 96 JGC andi need to know what else i have to do besides taking out the screws on the rear inside liftgate panel. it still wont come very loose. I'm trying to get at the lock hatch.

 

check & double check to get every possible screw out. It is (mine anyways) also held in w/ those plastic snaps/post like in your inteior door panel. It will not come all the way off but enough to squezee your arm down there enough to release the latch. Proceed & fix like the threads on here suggest. good luck.

 

Mine had 2 screws, one in each lower corner, that are hidden by the carpet...about 2" up and over
