Default Grand Cherokee radio defaults

I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Every time I start the car, no matter what I've tried (and it's been a lot), the radio/media player/whatever was last playing automatically is on. I have looked and tried everywhere to change the default to off on starting the car, but cannot find anything. Can anyone help?

I'm not sure I quite understand exactly what you're looking to do, but from what I am reading from your post, it starts playing whatever you left on when you shut it off, and you don't want anything to be playing when you turn on the Jeep. If you press the Power/Volume **** before you get out, there should be a picture of a speaker with a line through it, and 'Audio Off' in the center part of the top of the screen (where the radio/media information displays regularly when something is playing). This is just what I'd call a "Soft-Off", as the touchscreen still remains active for all other functions (GPS navigation, vehicle settings, climate, etc.), and if a phone call comes in on your Bluetooth phone (or text message), you'll hear ringing through your speakers (in order to adjust the volume of the Bluetooth, you have to do it either when it's ringing, or while you're talking to someone using the Power/Volume ****). If you touch either 'Radio' or 'Media' when you see 'Audio Off' at the top of the screen, then the system will start playing. As long as you don't touch the 'Radio' or 'Media' icons at the bottom of the screen, and you press the 'Power/Volume' ****, then the audio system should be off when you start your Jeep the next time. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, Vince. Hoping to clarify your understanding, when I arrive at my destination, put the car into park, turn off the radio or media player and turn off the car (speaker with the line through it is visible), the next time I start the car, the radio or media player (whichever was the last one playing) comes on - no ***** pushed; its just on. Any thoughts?

I'm not sure if there's a "fix" for that issue, although I know that, on occasion, my '14 Grand Cherokee does the same thing. By turning off the radio, it's a "Soft Off", which means that it just mutes the radio, unlike in the old days where you could turn a ****, it "clicked" off, and the radio was completely off. I miss those days, LOL.

Hi All,
I'm in Australia so maybe my 2018 Jeep GC Laredo is different. This is what I found in my AU version Uconnect4 media.
Press start button to get to RUN without starting the car
Go to Settings
Go to Audio
Touch the screen >
You will see Balance/Fade
Continue down the settings until you get to bottom screen with Auto Play and Auto Radio On
Touch - Auto On Radio
Select one of the three settings
ON (this turns the radio on when you start the car)
OFF (this stops the radio turning on each time you start the car)
RECALL LAST (this setting turns the radio ON if it was ON when you turned the car OFF or vice versa)

Cheers,
PeterC
