Default getting rid of full 4 wheel drive.

bought a nice looking 1995 grand. problem is its all time 4 wheel drive. can i just get the regular transfer case and do a swap? i had the other transfer case in another 95 i had and had no trouble. but when i back up or try and turn to sharp i feel resistance in the one i currently have.

If you have the 5.9 v8 then you will not want to swap cases. too much torque and you can blow the rear end easy.

Swap in a NP231j from the same year as your ZJ and you will be golden.

LOL who told you that? NP242J has a torque rating of 1486 ft-lbs, and a NP231J is rated at 1885 ft-lbs. i dont even think a monsterously built up 5.9 could make THAT much torque.

They run the 231 and the 242 behind supercharged 5.9 ZJs all the time with no problems.
