Default gear grinding noise under passenger dash

2004 Grand Cherokee limited edition About 2 minutes after turning off the ignition, I get a loud noise from under the passenger side dashboard. It's a gear grinding noise. I found a vacuum line with a split end and replaced. It did not stop the noise. I recently replaced the heater blend doors and that did not stop the noise. Any suggestions?

It could be the recirculation air door motor. I have noticed on my 2000 WJ, that approximately two minutes after turning off the ignition, electric motor(s) can be heard, operating for about 3 seconds. This may be the blend doors and the recirculation motor operating simultaneously.

‘manual’ control of the motors can achieved by entering diagnostic mode – entered by simultaneously pressing and holding two of the aircon control buttons.
