Exclamation GC CRD Heater Matrix

Hi all,

I have a 2002 Grand Cherokee CRD which currently has a problem with the heater matrix. The heater is only working on the passenger side footwell, but not to full temperature. The driver side is not working at all, only blowing out cold air.

Does anybody have any experience with this or a similar problem, is this a common problem?

Thanks

Matt

do a search on blend doors. there is a ton if info. if you won't find it on here you will on other jeep forums.
the blend doors break and lets cold air in. I seen a fix for them where you won't have to take the whole heater box out. I think they sell them on ebay. you cut a hole in the heater box for access, change the doors ,then put close the hole. other wise its a big job to take the dash out and fix it.

I found this a few days ago. It gives you pics and instructions on how to go about it, even if you dont buy the parts from them, they at least show you how to do it yourself.

Good luck

Default Heater Matrix

Hi all,

Thanks again for your input, you were indeed correct it was the blen doors, I bought a kit from rolandgendron on ebay, the kit was great and fairly easy to install using his detailed instructions. Now I have heat which has been great during this particularly cold English winter!

The funny thing was the original blen doors had been previously glued, so the previous owner must have paid a lot of money for Jeep main dealer to remove the dashboard only to glue and not replace the broken doors!

Would certainly recommend this kit.

Cheers

Matt
