Default Fuel pump and sender bad? Or wiring problem?

Hi I have a 99 Grand Cherokee and it was running fine until it earlier today when it crapped out on me. The fuel pump stopped working and the Jeep stalled out. When it stalled the gas gauge all of a sudden said empty, and I had half a tank I just put in. The digital overhead also says 0 miles til empty. I was wondering if anyone has already had to replace a fuel pump on their Jeep and if so can you tell me if the sender unit also died when the pump died? I've had other cars with bad pumps but never had a sender go out with it so I'm thinking it might be a wiring problem, but not sure. I'm going to test the wiring in the morning, just wanted to get an opinion so I know whether or not I should pick up a pump on my way. Thanks

Oh yeah and I already checked the fuses and they're all fine. I kicked the tank (which on other cars has worked) and nothing. It threw me code
P0463
Fuel Level Sending Unit Volts Too High

Sounds like a power spike. Check the ground for the unit.

Default Solved

In case anyone else ever has the pump and sender die at the same time they should check the wiring first. I assume my pump was replaced at some point because the locking tab on the wiring harness was broken off. The wiring harness ended up disconnecting probably from hitting bumps or whatever.
