Changing out fuel pump and have a few questions. First what is an easy why of assuring the pump gasket is set right? I am having problems getting the pump with the gasket around the pump. Should I set the gasket in the tank first? Then which way should the fuel level arm face? Thank for any help.

 

I just replaced the pump on my '93 GC Laredo.. I don't recall any issues with the gasket, but I DO remember the float faced the passenger side of the tank. Had to tilt it a little bit goin' in. I tightened it as tight as i could by hand, then used a big flat screwdriver and a hammer to turn it about another 1/8 turn. I stopped when the plastic bumps on the collar started to get deformed from the hits. No leaks! Hope this helps
