I know i been posting a couple of threads. So here is another one.

My 1994 jeep grand cherokee is making a growling type sound in the rear cargo area. Well i noticed it about 3 weeks ago but you have to be in the back seat to hear it. Just figured it was just the really cold weather making it do that.

But today i was in the back seat with the engine running it was way louder. Sounds like the fuel pump is on all the time but then again it may not be the fuel pump.

So we shifted from park to neutral and nothing, noise was still there, thinking it might be the rear end but when in park nothing spins inside right?
Then we tried to see if reving it up made a difference but nope. So i Turned the jeep off for about 30 seconds, then turn then turned the key to the on position and the fuel pump kicked on like normal, shut off after about 3 seconds. So i'm stumped. What can it be.

I did notice that my exhaust cracked right after the muffler but the weird thing about all this is that when you go outside you cant hear it, but when your inside you can.

 

In "park" nothing is turning. You can hear the noise from inside but not outside? Does it happen when you are only driving? Is it a growl or grinding? Have you looked at the transfer case?
