I'm new to the jeep world (got my first jeep) and do not know much about these wonderful machines but want to learn as much as possible.

Recently I found out that my drive shaft u joint (in the front by the transmission, just behind the axle) is going bad. It's creating an annoying noise as I drive it. The local dealership wanted my first born to fix it and I know it isn't that expensive of a project. I'm looking at getting the u-joint and taking it to a mom and pop mechanic shop to get it fixed.

Anywho, I need to know the correct u-joint and u-joint straps to get for the replacement. Any help is greatly appreciated.


The u-joint is for a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokoee Freedom Edition 4x4

after looking up your vehicle on oreillyautoparts.com and guessing that you have a 4.oL your part number is mpj 280 as for the straps i have never really replaced them when doing a u joint.
