On a 1993 ZJ with the I6 and not a 4x4... what is the factory gear ratio? Is it 3.55:1 or 3.73:1 or is it different if not a V8? Also, I am assuming this "base" model had the skinny tires in a 215/75/15 size?

I would assume it's 3.55, but to be sure check the differential. There should be a tag on the cover, using one of the diff cover bolts to hold it on. There will be a combination of numbers with 355 or 373 in the middle. That tells you which gear ratio it is.

 

Thanks, I have been wanting to get another Jeep since I sold my XJ... makes me mad to see it on my way to work everyday just sitting there... a guy I grew up with is giving me this ZJ for free... 160,XXX miles, new radiator, new tranny, new A/C compressor... all I have to do is take the train 15 hours down to get it then drive it 10 hours back here.
