The Manaflow muffler sounds great on the ZJ 5.2 IMO. A little throaty but somewhat subdued on the road. Not near as loud as the Flowmaster, which I'd consider uncomfortable on a trip.
With the V8's 2 more cylinders, it may be a little deeper, but quieter than a Magnaflow equipped XJ, because of the extra flow through the muffler. Not as raspy.
Just my opinion of course.

I replaced my 94 Grands with a Dynomax High-flow cat back. You can get them at Summit Racing and they usually have a $75 mail in rebate through Summit. My system after rebate cost me $25. It has a nice sound but not too loud at all.

Love the input. nice to know im not the only one wanting a some what quiet exshaust. maby we are getting old. lol Now on a cat back system thats just a muffler and tail pipe or does it come with a new cat? 25 bucks sound pretty tempting even if Im not a fan of the sound Im only out 25 bucks. lol

Cat back means the system is new from the old catalytic converter back. I will give a second nod to the Magnaflow. A Flowmaster sounds good, but too loud for daily driving in my opinion.

sweet I loved mine on the xj awesome to know about the zj. Now its a 2.25 offset inlet and 2.25 center outlet correct? And will I have to extend the pipe longer like I did on my xj or should one just weld right in?

A large body MagnaFlow 5x11x22 would fit the bill. It would be louder than stock but nowhere close to a Flowmaster Super 44. I'm getting ready to replace the two MagnaFlow's I have on mine with the single 5x11.

I've got a cheap Thrush muffler on my V8 ZJ. It sounds good but its definitely got that droning noise on the highway.
