I am picking up my 95 grand Saturday after work, i paid 300 for the girl and she needs some engine work. I have a few questions for the smarties on here. i can get a 4.0 liter with 90,000 miles for $850 1 yr. warr. or get a Marshall for $1195 brand new. the engine that is in the jeep spun some bearing havent gotten a good chance to inspect it. I can rebuild or go diff. or new,what are your suggestions?

 

I would spend a little more and go for the Marshall. What kind of warranty does it have? For $345.00 more you will be getting a motor with 0 miles.

 

if the marshall has at least a year long warranty id go with it for the same reason as above. 90k is a lot of miles.

Mopar to offer the ATK 4.7-liter Stroker Motor

ANNOUNCEMENT:
Following up on Mopar’s announcement last year that it would investigate adding a stroker motor to its portfolio, the parts maker displayed a 4.7-liter engine on the XJ Stroker vehicle at Moab. This is the same motor that won the 4×4 SUV category at the 2008 Score International Baja 1000 in Essenada, Mexico. Mopar plans to launch the ATK 4.7-liter Stroker motor for Jeep vehicle applications starting in September 2009.

With this announcement from Mopar, do you think they will be offering this for all model years of Cherokees and Wranglers that came equipped with an inline six?

Do you think that since it is from Mopar they will include an ECM Flash that matches the needs of the new engine?

What do you think the asking price will be? A new engine from ATK is only $2500

Have 97 XJ Cherokee with I 6 ( 4 liter ) and power is that of a whimpy burger. even with K& N intake,and Edelbrock header.

I have seen at Clifford performance site a Redline fuel injection kit that claims 100% improvement in power.
