I have 97zj with the 4.0 and was wondering any engine swaps available cheap/easy, just curious

 

No such thing as a cheap and easy engine swap anymore. You have to put the same in as you took out.

 

Well I meant somewhat cheap and easy, i meant in terms of swap. Is there any at all?

 

For more power, a stroker is your easiest option. For easiest/cheapest, another plain 4.0.

 

Yep, the easiest swap there is, is take your current Jeep to a dealer, and drive off the lot in the Jeep that has the engine that you wanted in it.

I've been involved in 4 Jeep engine swaps, and none have been cheap or easy. I'm going to finally be swapping a stroked 5.9 into mine, and I've already planned my swap around a block leave period in which I don't work for a full month. If it can go wrong, it will go wrong.

 

yep, stroker I6, or a boosted 4.0 either will net the best results.
