hey everyone,

im new to your site but not to cars...

recently my 97 jeep grand cherokee has got me scratching my head,

iy has 179k on it and runs amazing... however recently i have been haveing a problem keeping the battery from dieing... (brand new alt and battery)... and ive had to jump it a few times... today after jumping it i noticed the parking lights where one... with the switch off... i then tryed to shut the truck off and turned the key to the off position.. and the truck didnt shut off it kept running... if i pull the coil wire i could kill the motor however once i restart it it does the same thing


any help would be great... thanks everyone..

 

Is the vehicle equipped with a remote starting device?

 

It could be the ignition key cylinder. Some times part of it will break off and won't mesh with the ignition switch correctly. It usually breaks on the start side of the switch not the shut down side.

I also doubt it to be the ignition key. By the way did you get it fixed?
